Since the 1980's, board games and roleplaying games have been a big
interest of mine. Some of my favorite board games include: Axis &
Allies, Talisman, Conquest of the Empire, Acquire, Shadows Over Camelot,
Betrayal at House on the Hill, Supremacy, and my own creation, Smugglers
of the Galaxy. Roleplaying games I have most enjoyed playing and/or
game-mastering include: Dungeons & Dragons, Star Trek (FASA), Star
Wars (D6), Star Wars (D20), World of Darkness, Call of Cthulhu, and
GURPS.
I have also enjoyed playing a few online games, such as Star Wars
Galaxies and especially Ultima Online, which I played many years. In
that game, I had a character named Tiberius, who was a philosopher
spreading books on virtue. My wife and I also ran two 6-month campaigns
called "Epic Lands, which involved 6 guilds and hundreds of players
in a war over territory inside Ultima Online. This was a 'game within a
game' which I designed.
In 2003, my old friend Nathan Abrashoff, his wife Shelly, my wife Julie,
and myself formed the Playus Maximus game company. We produced the board
game 'Smugglers of the
Galaxy', which was distributed by major game
distributors in the US, Canada, Australia, Germany, and the UK. Our
second product was to be a roleplaying game called Rocket
League, but
many life events caused a long delay on production. It's still possible
I may independently publish Rocket League in the future.
